Development of a concept that utilises the technical capabilities of modern inland waterway vessels to reduce the need for water space in the port in favour of new logistics space on land. Use of the Port of Duisburg as a hub for the Ruhr region, with potential stop-offs at other ports (e.g. Essen and Dortmund).

PLAINTRANS

The aim of the research project was to develop a telematics-based information system for intermodal freight transport and to implement it in a software prototype. As part of this project, the intention was to develop a basic application with simplified structures.
